my name is melissa ann, but some folks know me as dumptruck molly. I am a twenty-eight year old Gemini. I have a bachelor's degree in social work (BSW), with a minor in women's studies. I graduated in July of 2004 from Ball State University. I currently live in Bloomington, Indiana and have lived here since July 2005. I work as a case manager at a community mental health center here in Bloomington, working with adults battling mental illness. I have recently decided to change my career path and am working towards becoming a Birth Doula. I'm also thinking of becoming a Postpartum Doula. I want to devote my life to helping women have the best possible birthing experiences they can have. This will fit in nicely with my feminist and social work ideals.
I write a zine called "she's
so very..." and DJ under the name Dumptruck Molly. I sang in a band called
JERK
ALERT! but we broke up in the summer of 2008. I'm currently singing, along
with my friend Crystal, in a Lady Gaga tribute band: we are called The Lady
Gagas. The show will be a benefit for our local domestic violence shelter. I'm
also working on becoming a burlesque performer with the Bloomington Burlesque
Brigade. Athens, Georgia is my favorite place in the world, with Las Vegas being
number two. I fancy the idea of traveling to Greece once a
year. I am obsessed with LOST, True Blood, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Gilmore Girls, and
Queer As Folk - they are the greatest shows in television history. I also love Alias, Veronica Mars, Ugly Betty, Castle, How I Met Your Mother,
Bones, Community and The Vampire Diaries. I love any
television show that has strong female characters that can be considered good
role models. I love comedians, my favorites include Eddie Izzard, Margaret Cho,
Chris Hardwick, Chelsea
Handler, Joel McHale, Denis Leary. but I could watch any stand up comic and be
happy. I am IN LOVE with Belle and Sebastian and Stuart Murdoch. I'm also seriously obsessed with
Idlewild,
and traveled to Portland, Oregon in October '05 just to see them play. I've also
been madly in love with Placebo for nearly 10 years now. thankfully my musical
tastes are diversifying. new loves include CSS and the Kills. I have a kitty cat named
sweetpea
and she's the cutest thing alive. I am madly in love with my boyfriend. I call
him sassafrassy.
I love to dance like my life depends on it.
